Internal Bleaching & Veneers: When Whitening Isn't Enough
Some stains don't respond to regular whitening: a single dark tooth after a root canal, or deep stains from medication or fluorosis. We tell you honestly what will work, from internal bleaching to veneers.
Price after consultationWe record your shade on the 16-tab VITA guide before and after. The marked tabs show a typical starting and target shade; your own result depends on your teeth.
Internal bleaching for one dark tooth
A tooth that has had a root canal or an old injury can turn grey or dark from the inside. Surface whitening can't reach that stain. Internal bleaching places whitening material inside the tooth, under a temporary seal, and lightens it over a few visits until it matches its neighbours.
Veneers for stains whitening can't fix
Very deep stains (for example from tetracycline or severe fluorosis), chips or uneven shapes may need veneers: thin shells bonded to the front of the teeth. Veneers are planned and placed at the clinic after a full consultation. If whitening alone can give you the result you want, we will tell you so first.
What about at-home whitening devices and kits?
Home LED devices, strips and pens are popular, but they give mild results and nobody checks your teeth first. Shade Studio doesn't sell home kits. If you want to maintain your result, we'll recommend simple habits and a touch-up plan.
Who it's for
- One tooth darker than the rest, often after a root canal
- Grey or banded stains that didn't change with whitening
- Chipped, worn or uneven front teeth
- Anyone wanting an honest second opinion on veneers
Internal bleaching needs a well-sealed root canal, and veneers need healthy gums and enough enamel. We check both at the consultation.
How we decide what you need
Consultation

Frequently asked questions
What is internal bleaching?
Whitening placed inside a root-treated tooth to lighten it from within, usually over 2–4 visits.
Do I need veneers or just whitening?
If your teeth are generally yellow, whitening usually works. Veneers are for deep stains, chips or shape changes. We'll tell you honestly at the consultation.
Is at-home teeth whitening worth it?
Home kits and LED devices give mild results and no one checks your teeth first. They can be useful for maintenance after professional whitening.
What is the teeth whitening method for a single dark tooth?
Internal bleaching: the bleaching material goes inside the tooth under a temporary seal and is changed until the colour matches.
How much do veneers cost?
It depends on the number of teeth and the material, so we give you an exact price after the consultation.
