We record your shade on the 16-tab VITA guide before and after. The marked tabs show a typical starting and target shade; your own result depends on your teeth.

How sensitive-teeth whitening works

Sensitivity after whitening happens when the gel briefly reaches the nerve through tiny channels in the tooth. We reduce that by applying a desensitising agent before whitening, using shorter or fewer gel cycles, and finishing with fluoride that helps seal those channels. The result may build more gradually, but the session stays comfortable.

Who it's for

  • People who feel twinges with cold drinks
  • Anyone who had a painful whitening experience before
  • Mild gum recession or exposed roots
  • Patients who prefer a gentler approach

If sensitivity comes from decay, a cracked tooth or gum disease, we treat that first. Whitening isn't done during pregnancy, breastfeeding or under 18.

Frequently asked questions

Will whitening hurt if I have sensitive teeth?

Most people feel little or nothing with this protocol. Any twinges usually fade within a day or two.

Does whitening damage enamel?

No. After a dental check and with approved materials, whitening doesn't damage enamel.

Will I get the same result?

Often yes, though it may build more gradually with gentler cycles. We measure your shade before and after.

Can I whiten sensitive teeth at home?

Home strips often make sensitivity worse because the gel sits unsupervised. A supervised clinic session is the safer choice.
